What stays on your phone
Address lookups are checked on your phone and are not stored or sent to us. Only counts are kept. Pages, history and cookies in the ClearAd browser stay on your phone. The app has no account and does not read your contacts, messages or location.
What leaves your phone
- Lookups that are not blocked go to the public DNS service 1.1.1.1 run by Cloudflare, as a phone normally sends them to its network’s DNS. Cloudflare’s own privacy terms apply to those lookups.
- Pages you open connect to those websites, like in any browser.
- Site icons for the popular sites on the browser home page are fetched once from Google’s favicon service (for that fixed list only) and kept on your phone.
- Rewarded ads come from Google AdMob, which may use your advertising ID under Google’s policy and your consent choice.
- WhatsApp: if you message us, we see what you send, such as your plan choice and device ID. WhatsApp is a separate service with its own terms.
Why the VPN permission is needed
Android only lets a VPN service see address lookups from other apps. ClearAd uses it to answer lookups for known ad and tracker servers with “no such server”. It routes only DNS to itself; the rest of your traffic goes straight to the internet and is not read by ClearAd.
This website
This website does not use advertising cookies. The ad domain checker runs in your browser and does not send what you type to us. If we add analytics we will describe it here first.
Payments
The app does not take payments and never asks for a card or wallet number. You pay us directly by a method we agree with you on WhatsApp, such as Easypaisa, JazzCash or bank transfer. We keep a record of the payment for accounting and refunds.
Your choices
- Stop protection at any time with the Pause button.
- Leave apps out of protection under More, Apps left out of protection.
- Use the consent prompt for ads to limit personalised advertising.
- Uninstall the app to remove all data stored by it.
- Ask us to delete any WhatsApp messages and payment records we hold about you, subject to what we must keep by law.
Children
ClearAd is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app collects or sends, we will update this page and the date above before the new version is released.
